We live in a busy, busy world.
So many of us feel disconnected from our purpose, and we yearn for stillness, a little space to reconnect with our true selves.
But there has been a shift – we are reclaiming our sanity amidst the chaos.
We see it with the rising popularity of yoga and meditation – mindfulness has become a buzz word that is no longer reserved for the fringes of society and has made its way into collective consciousness.
These are blessings as we embrace this idea of balance…it’s not a myth, as some may believe.
That’s because balance is a practice and not a static state.
A balanced life doesn’t necessarily mean all the spheres of your life are in perfect balance at once but rather that attention is given to those areas that are most important in that moment and that you allow those priorities to naturally shift.
We create balance when we come home to the stillness within…when we simply be. We are after all human be-ings, a truth that I believe society at large has gotten a bit away from.
However, there is a paradox that we must come to terms with, as I do not believe that taking action is against our nature either…in fact, it is entwined in the very fabric of our being as we are co-creators of this experience in life.
Simply put, in order to create, we must take action…but not any old action.

How then do we choose action that is from our Spirit, as that is what “inspired” means after all?
By listening to our intuition of course.
Our intuition will always guide us to right action, but admittedly, it’s not always easy to hear what it’s saying when we have covered that voice with the noise from our ego.
This is why making peace with our ego’s thoughts is one of the core principles I coach my clients on.
But this is a tricky area to navigate, as the physical brain is hardwired to think – positive and negative thoughts – so it is inevitable that those negative limiting beliefs will creep in again among the positive ones we have created.
Indeed, there are moments when the ego simply won’t quiet down, no matter how hard we try.
It’s in those moments where we have a choice…to take inspired action despite it all.
This doesn’t mean we rush forward without consciousness or that we avoid our feelings altogether, but rather that we recognize the power of inspired action can often shift the ego’s noise by taking the energy away from the negative spin cycle of thought.
I have seen this at play in my life and in my client’s lives over and over again. It begins with that stuck feeling, and we move compassionately toward learning the lessons and lessening the charge around it.
And even if we don’t feel 100% a-ok absolutely balanced and clear – we take that first step toward that goal or idea. That first empowering step.
The ego is taken aback:
“Wait a minute, why is she still taking action – why isn’t she staying stuck???”
And just when he’s trying to figure it out – we take another small yet inspired step.
One by one, we continue taking those steps, and bit by bit, the ego’s grasp subsides.
By doing so, we begin to recognize our ego doesn’t have to win this round, and we move one step closer toward our vision of our ideal life.
I’d love to hear from you! Is there an area of your life where you are experiencing resistance right now? If so, what is one small inspired action step that you can take to move through that resistance to discover what’s on the other side?
